Boat Racing

Introduction

Ice Boat Racing (IBR) is a relatively new addition to Softslayer's available minigames. Players can race as a group or compete against their own personal best time in a solo time trial mode. If you've got a need for speed, this is the perfect activity for you.

Getting Started

To start a solo time trial use the "/tt" command and then select a course from the menu. You'll be teleported to the course with a boat ready to go. From there, simply start driving and try to set your best time. While you're time trialing other players will be invisible to you, so there's no need to worry about others interfering with your lap times. To exit the time trial, simply exit your boat.

To start a multiplayer race use "/race create TrackNameHere (# of laps) (# of pitstops)". Using that command will create a prompt in chat for players to click on so they can join the race, or they can use the "/race join" command. If you don't join within a certain amount of time, you'll be unable to join until a new race is created. During the race, you'll be unable to manually leave your boat, so if you want to exit the race, use the "/race leave" command. The race will be concluded once all racers have completed the required amount of laps and pitstops, or after a certain amount of time has passed since the leader has finished the race.

Available Courses

There are currently only two courses to choose from:

- Slayer Circuit is Softslayer's first original track, built by Cavesmith and HatuneMiku01. The track is roughly beginner/intermediate difficulty, and is best played with 8-12 players.

The track is located at +5700, +4050 in the overworld.

- Drift Paradise (Haliwood Coast) was Softslayer's introduction to ice boat racing, and was designed by BluLeader64, a prominent track creator in the broader boat racing community. This track is due for renovation, or outright removal.

The track is beginner friendly difficulty, and is best played with 4-8 players.

- Hubert Highway is Softslayer's second original track, built by HatuneMiku01.
The track is intermediate difficulty, and is best enjoyed as a time trial, or as a 1v1 battle.
The track is located at "/hub"

- Are you interested in making your own course? That's good news! Softslayer is always looking to add more race tracks to our roster. The track can be made in either creative, survival, or submitted from one of your own save files. There's a lot that goes in to making an ice boat track, and user "Cavesmith" would be glad to answer those questions personally if you catch him online, or on the discord. Tracks that are added will more than likely be held to a high standard of quality, so be sure to give it your best shot when designing the track. Don't be afraid to look online for inspiration! ...and don't steal someone else's track. Cavesmith has played basically all of them and will know if it's stolen.
